Barry M Vintage Violet and Ballerina

5th November 2014

Barry M

Barry M is a brand I always turn to when I want a cheap and cheerful make up purchase. Their nail varnishes take up a huge proportion of my stash, and I recently added two more to my collection. Two of the Autumn/Winter releases, Vintage Violet and Ballerina, caught my eye and I snapped them up a couple of weeks ago.

I did take a picture of both of these on my nails but the colours really didn’t translate well in my photos (Polly Polish has really good, true to colour pictures of both if you wanted to check them out). Ballerina is a peachy pink that brings a bit of warmth to wintry outfits, and Vintage Violet is a lovely dusky purple that looks particularly great at this time of year. As I always find with Barry M, both colours lasted really well on me and I got through four days without any chips – for me, that’s really impressive!

Barry M Matte Nail Paint in Mocha

3rd October 2014

Barry M

A couple of weeks ago I posted about my top nail varnish picks to wear in autumn and…I’ve already discovered a new favourite. Us beauty blogger are nothing if not fickle, eh?

I haven’t dabbled much in the world of matte nails but after trying out two of the Barry M offerings, I’m officially hooked. I featured the burgundy shade in my nail varnish favourites posts but the one I want to highlight today is Mocha. I’m not a big lover of brown polishes but this looks like melted chocolate in a bottle and applies beautifully.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint: Full Collection and Swatches

18th March 2013
So it’s no secret that I’m a bit of a nail varnish nut and I particularly love Barry M Nail Paints. They’re fantastic value, long-lasting and come in a ridiculous array of colours…so there’s always an excuse to pick up a couple while I’m out shopping.

When the Gelly Hi-Shine polishes were released last year I picked up a few and instantly fell in love. The colours are gorgeous vibrant and dry quickly to a super shiny finish that usually doesn’t need a second coat or a top coat. I do usually apply a top coat to ensure the polishes last a few days without chipping (I am *not* delicate with my manicures!) but it’s certainly not needed for extra shine.

I’ve gradually been picking up the odd polish here and there and it was only after I bought the last polish from the Spring collection that I realised I had the full set, so I thought I’d do a bumper post and feature a swatch from every colour available, in case any of you were looking to buy any new shades.

So, onto the swatches:
First up we have Lychee, Dragon Fruit and Greenberry. These are all shades from the Spring collection and every single one is a winner. Lychee is an excellent nude shade and I’m not usually a huge nude fan but this looks great for day to day wear. Dragon Fruit and Greenberry and both absolutely gorgeous and make me long for summer as I know they’ll look awesome when I’m a bit more tanned.

Next up is Papaya, Satsuma, Grapefruit, Pomegranate and Blood Orange. Papaya is the last shade from the Spring collection and all of the others are from the original release. Quite a mixed bag here but I think Grapefruit and Pomegranate are my favourites. Papaya is pretty but I wish it had a bit more oomph and Blood Orange is lovely but it’s not a shade I wear too often as it is quite intense.

And finally, the purples, blues and greens. From L-R in the top picture: Prickly Pear, Blueberry, Watermelon, Blackberry and Plum. Watermelon, Blackberry and Plum all look awesome for nights out and always manage to withstand eight hours of me clunking around with a cocktail glass and dancing/doing shots/falling over/Gangnam Styling, so they definitely pass the test.
So that’s the full colour range for now, folks. Which shades are you favourites? Are there any others that you want to pick up after payday?

NOTD: Barry M Racing Green

2nd December 2012

I’ve been buying a *lot* of Barry M nail polishes at the moment. I completely blame Superdrug’s amazing 3 for 2 deal that they’re running on all cosmetics…although, it does end on Tuesday so do hop over to their website to snap up any last minute bargains. I recently ordered a couple of the glitter polishes and also Racing Green, which I’ve had my eye on for a while now.

I love wearing deep shades on my nails during the autumn and winter and this colour is a perfect winter green. Very sumptuous and dark, it goes with so much and is very hard-wearing. I could have stopped at one coat as the colour is so vivid but I went for two and finished things off with a top coat. This photo was taken after three days and, as you can see, it’s lasted very well.

Taken in natural light… And now I’m looking at this again it looks like the varnish is really badly chipped; it’s actually the reflection from my light 🙂

I love this polish and I know I’ll be wearing it a lot throughout the winter. It’s such a gorgeous, rich colour that I can’t believe it took me this long to purchase it!
